Even 73 years after its debut, The Wizard of Oz remains one of the most beloved films of all time. Based on the L. Frank Baum book that has been translated into over 50 languages (in Russia, “Ellie” and her dog “Totoshka” endure the adventure), the flick is a universal favorite, spanning ages and cultures worldwide.
Since every generation has gleefully embraced The Wizard of Oz, it got us thinking… Suppose the story was told through the lens of one of the most prominent groups of today’s generation: hipsters. What if we put on a pair of magical vintage Wayfarers, ones that gave us “Hipster Vision,” and revisited this timeless classic? Would Dorothy have packed a thermos of coffee in her courier bag before embarking on her journey? Would the Cowardly Lion have proudly sported bed head? Would the Scarecrow have stuffed his straw into skinny jeans?
Using assets from our collection, in-house designer Jordan Roland illustrated a version of these classic characters with a modern-day spin. And so, we proudly present The Hipsters of Oz.
