Announcing Shutterstock’s New Strategic Partnership with Penske Media

This week our technology-driven marketplace is joining forces with Penske Media Corporation’s insider access, journalistic excellence, and event exclusivity to build the world’s best editorial service for images and video. Together, we will create and license entertainment and fashion imagery to media, publishing, and creative companies around the world.

Beginning in 2016, we will have the exclusive worldwide right and license to Penske’s archive, with images from 100-year-old publications Variety and WWD.

With Penske’s insider access, Shutterstock will be documenting runways, exclusive parties, and Hollywood events like the Golden Globe and Academy Awards. We will also be at the 50-plus events, galas, summits, and conferences that Penske Media produces annually, capturing images for the world’s media.

“This alliance alters the existing model of editorial access to fashion and entertainment photography,” said Jay Penske, Chairman and CEO of Penske Media Corporation. “We are thrilled to usher in a new era together.”

Both the archived and newly created content will be owned by Penske Media, and it will be available to license initially via Rex Features and Shutterstock Premier. Penske Media will also be using our digital asset management service, WebDAM, to store, organize, and manage its visual content.
